Group Tabla Classes @ Sangati Center in SF
New 5 week Session begins on Tuesday January 13, 2009
6-8pm. Beginning classes on Tuesday Jan 13, 09 and intermediate classes begin on Thursday Jan 15, 09.
Come explore culture, sound design, creativity and rhythm through the language and notes of tabla, the traditional drums of north India. Robin Sukhadia, disciple of Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, leads focused classes on learning and applying the rhythmic language behind tabla. Drums are available for learning and practice within the gallery. Learn correct posture, finger positioning, recitation, tala (cycles of times), and composition (kaidas, tuchras, mukras, thekas, tee hai, and more). Students of all levels encouraged to participate, especially complete beginners.
Classes are offered every Tuesday evening between 6 – 8 PM beginning January 13, 2009 in 1 hour segments according to skill level. $10 – $20 (Sliding Scale) per 1 hour lesson. Classes will be offered in 5 week sessions (Students can pay per class or a special $45 total fee for all 5 classes). This session of tabla classes will begin January 13, 2009 and end on February 12, 2009.
