Mughal e Azaam & The Rise of Epic Bollywood

Robin Sukhadia (www.tablapusher.com) returns to CFAER to lead tonite’s examination of Mughal e Azaam, considered by many to be the Greatest Bollywood Movie Ever Made. The 1960 film introduced color for the first time to Indian cinemagoers, launched the careers of Madhubala and Dilip Kumar, and featured the gorgeous score of Naushad. Robin’s lecture will present clips from the film with a special emphasis on the influence that Mughal culture had on the aesthetics of Bollywood film.
