Group Tabla Classes in Silverlake (Los Angeles) – Beginners / Intermediate
5 week Session begins on Wednesday January 23, 2013|  6:30 – 8:30 pm

Beginners: 6:30pm Wednesdays
January 23rd – February 20th

Intermediate: 7:30pm Wednesdays
January 23rd – February 20th

Come explore culture, sound design, creativity and rhythm through the language and notes of tabla, the traditional drums of north India. Robin Sukhadia, disciple of Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, leads focused classes on learning and applying the rhythmic language behind tabla. A limited number of drums are available for use during class. Learn correct posture, finger positioning, recitation, tala (cycles of times), and composition (kaidas, tuchras, mukras, thekas, tee hai, and more). Students of all levels encouraged to participate, especially complete beginners.

Classes are offered every Wednesday evening between 6:30 – 8:30 PM beginning January 23, 2013 in 1 hour segments according to skill level. $25 (Sliding Scale) per 1 hour lesson. Classes will be offered in 5 week sessions (Students can pay per class or a special $110 total fee for all 5 classes).
